On Sunday I had the privilege of seeing the great Tippa Irie perform at the Vibe Bar in Brick Lane.
Mc-ing over tracks spun by his associate Johnny, Tippa showed us why he is one of the premier entertainers in any field of popular music – mixing classic hits like Hello Darling with newer material such as the title piece from his last album Stick To My Roots.
The night, promoted by Perfect Balance Productions, also featured France’s Hylu & Jago with Galan and Papa B as well as an unannounced appearance from jungle legend Demolition Man who shared some big tunes he has been voicing for Chris Peckings. The audience – which included jungle-dj-turned-top-reggae-producer Curtis Lynch – appreciated the surprise!
Catch Tippa on the rest of his UK and European tour by making one of these dates.
